NTT Solmare launches comics for iPad at the same time it’s released in Japan on May 28

NTT Solmare Corporation (Headquartered in Osaka, President: Hiroki Oohashi, hereinafter NTT Solmare), owns COMIC- C'moA (*1) -- Japan's top mobile comic sites, today launches Mobile Comics for iPad worldwide, which will be released in Japan by Apple Inc. on May 28.

*1: Official i-mode site by NTT DOCOMO, official EZweb site by KDDI, and official Yahoo! Mobile portal site by SOFTBANK MOBILE.

1.Background and Objectives

Manga, one of Japan’s leading well-known pop cultures, has become one of many apps / contents available on the digital book market worldwide.

For 5 consecutive years, Japan Number 1 mobile comics’ site “i-mode” offers more than 30,000 titles (400,000 stories). Has recently achieved 700million downloads for paid contents alone.

Over 100 titles (approximately 1000 stories) available on one of our distribution channels iPhone’s App store also marked its 400,000 downloads since launched in Japan. Currently, Manga is LIVE in 29 countries. iPad has become one of the latest distribution channels. By using strong promotion and operation know-how NTT Solmare is expanding its business and channels worldwide quickly.

iPad (Apple Inc.) marked its 1 million sales in just one month after launched in the USA in April.

2.Pricing and Contents Availability

In addition to “Always by your side” in Japanese and English, Popular titles among iPhone users such as “Salaryman Kintaro” and “ELEVEN” are also available.
